Synoptek’s Edge™ device is an advanced “data collector” and is typically used as part of the initial investigation about what programs and hardware exist at each site location.  IT also provides enhanced IT infrastructure monitoring capabilities.  Our “Edge™” device can reside anywhere there’s internet access and gives Synoptek a secure connection to target machines.  This de-centralized approach makes deployment simple in that the only requirement is access to the Internet.

Synoptek’s “Edge™” device runs a JAVA based application that acts as a monitoring and collection center on hardware in both our internal data centers as well as on client sites. Our Edge™ device uses standard protocols to monitor devices under management by Synoptek. Our Edge™ device is typically placed as close to the infrastructure being monitored as reasonably possible.

Once the Edge™ is installed, audit information is gathered as it scans every network connected device and collects information such as: installed programs, hardware information, serial numbers, product I.D.s and so on. Reports can then be generated from this collected data.
